- On 9 February 1744/5, John Terry had been commissioned a "Captain Lieutenant" in the Fourth Massachusetts Regiment, which took part in the attack on Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in 1745. According to ANDREW NEWCOMB AND HIS DESCENDANTS (1923), John Terry raised a company for a later assault on Nova Scotia, which marched from Lebanon on 15 September 1755.
John terry was among a large group of men, each of whom was granted 500 acres in the Township of Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, on 22 May 1755. On 22 December 1771, Captain John Terry was granted 3,000 acres in Wilmot, Kings County. [1]
