      Incidents at the Slosson Place
      Among those who saw considerable of the British,even more than was agreeable, was Wi11am Slosson, who settled on a farm two miles south of Chazy village, in 1807. His son,
      Horace Slosson, was then five years old, and has resided on the farm ever since. A portion if the original house, built In 1808, is still standing.
      On the British advance, William S1osson was pressed into the service, with his team, to carry baggage from Chazy to Plattsburgh. On their retreat our militia captured five British soldiers and six horses In the vicinity. The British also "gobbled up" Mr. Slossson, and held him prisioner over one night.

    Notes 
    • Was the 1st white child born in Middlebury, Vermont. Moved to Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont during Revolutionary War. They lived in South Hero, VT until 1807, when they moved to Chazy, settled on the old State Road, 2 1/2 miles south of the village.[Slosson 11-20-00 Greene.FTW]

      William was the first white child born in Middlebury, Rutland Co., VT. He moved
      to Bennington, Bennigton County, Vermont during the Revolutionary War. He moved
      to South Hero, Chttendeon Co., VT where he married Susanna Stark. They moved to
      Chazy, Clinton Co., NY, where she died in 1863. William married Sally Baxter, a
      widow, who was burned to death 10 Oct 1863 at Chazy.
