      Leo played semi-pro baseball in the midwest and was a good athlete and golfer. He studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago and did many good oils. He worked in a shoe factory in Milwaukee. After marriage, he moved to Chicago, Ill., and from 1921 he worked for J.P. Smith there, until his retirement.

      Obituary: "Rowells, Leo Larry Rowells, beloved husband of the late Dorothy C., nee Papke; fond father of Larwrnce (Mary), Lynn (Carol), and William (Joan); brother of May, Esther, Bessie, John, and the late George and Edward; grandfather of nine; great-grandfather of one.
