Obituary: "Services Held Today for Jennie Rowells Who died on Monday"
"Funeral services for Miss Jennie A. Rowells, 72, who died Monday, were held this morning from the home of her sister, Mrs. EllenDonovan, and at 9:30 from St. Joseph's church, the Rev. Theodore Eichholtz officiating. Burial took place in the Catholic cemetery.
Miss Jennie A. Rowells, daughter of the late Luck and margaret Rowells and a life resident of Waupun passed away Monday evening about 6 pm at the Madison hospital where she had been a patient for the past three years. She was born April 1, 1861, at the family home two miles south of Waupun on the Beaver Dam road.
About 40 years ago with her mother and sister Mary she moved to a home on East Lincoln Street. Her mother died in 1905 and after the death of her sister, six years ago, Miss Rowells made her home with another sister, Mrs. Donovan, until the serious condition of her health made hospital care necessary.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Donovan of Norton, Kansas, Mrs. Whit Lancaster of London, Ontario, Mrs Donovan of Waupun, and one brother Richard E. Rowells of Clovis, New Mixico. Mrs. Donovan was advised by wire that both sisters are very ill at the present time and neither they nor the brother would be able to attend the funeral. Many neices and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers at the service this morning were TomStoddart, W.F. Johnson, Herbert Michaels, A.J. Beucus, Will Welsch, and James Donovan. "Those from away who attended the services included: Mr. & Mrs. W.E. Hinz, and the Misses Alice and Lucy Lenz of Oshkosh, Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Mahoney from Nebraska and Mrs. Mary Mahoney of Rochester, Minn., Jack and Miss Jean Rowells of Fond du Lac. Neal and James Francis Donovan, two great-nephews of Miss Rowells, were among the altar boys serving at the mass." Source: newspaper clipping (Sadie Miller collection) Thurs. Aug 24, 1933/
