-
Name |
Edward RICHMOND [1] |
- Before coming to Little Compton, he owned a place in Newport, in that part now called Middletown. A gunsmith, he bought two great lots in Little Compton. He lived on the place known as the Father Richmond place, which is slightly north of the entrance to Meeting House Lane, on the other side of the West Main Road and is buried in this place, where his gravestone (the next to the oldest in town) may still be seen in the small Richmond cemetery. He was the first settler by the name of Richmond in Little Compton.
He was one of the incorporates of Little Compton in 1674. [1]
