- During the Revolutionary War, Roswell was with the Connecticut troops. He was in the expedition against Quebec in 1777, and captured by the enemy. After his exchange he was detailed as a wagon master and in charge of the trains hauling military stores from Connecticut to the Continental army in the Hudson River valley.
