- Ida Fern (Padelford) HINER
Seattle - Ida Fern Hiner, age 84, died May 28th, 2001 at Swedish
Hospital. (Need to say she was a resident of Seattle 42 years) Fern
was born to Archie Manley Padel ford & Ida (Oswalt) Padelford Nov.
11, 1916 in Sunnyside. She was raised on the Padelford farm in
Sunnyside, with 3 sisters and 1 brother. Fern was a graduate of
Sunnyside High School in 1936. While working from home and the fami
ly farm she met Daniel (Bud) Hiner. They mar ried Nov. 5, 1938 at the
home of her parents. They lived in the lower Valley from 1938-1959.
While in the Lower Valley Dan and Fern had 4 Children, 3 daughters
and 1 son. She was a dedi cated warm loving mother and homemaker.
Fern worked at Stokley Van Camp in Zillah, Fraternal Order of Eagles
#2229, and Del Monte Cannery in Toppenish. She was a member of
the Eagle's women Auxiliary, coached young girls baseball team, and
helped with the teenage dances. Fern and Dannie were both involved
with the Christmas Baskets for the homeless. She also was Secretary of
the bowling league. Her Team went to State in 1956. While in Seattle
she worked for the American Linen 9 years, and retired in 1978. After
retirement Fern enjoyed and became exceptional talented at crocheting
and plastic canvas works, which she gave as special gifts. Preceded in
death by her parents Archie and Ida Padelford, sisters Emily Schutt,
and Flor ence Rasmusson. Survived by husband Daniel (Bud) Hiner,
sister Bessie Minter, brother Earl M. Padelford. Children, Jacqueline
Lewis of Yakima, Wa., Janet Pace (Robert) of Keno, Oreg., Gary
Hiner (May) of Kent, Wa., and Pen ny Hemming of Seattle, Wa. Also
survived by 19 Grandchildren, 41 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great
Grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services
will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery, on Saturday June 2, at 10 a.m.
Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
