Aft 20 May 1695 [1] |
Notes |
- "History and Genealogy of the Familes of Old Fairfield": Married (1) Esther Thompson, dau. of John, b. about1654.
Married (2) Esther, widow of Nathaniel Perry, and dau. of Richard Lyon. When common lands were set out to the heirs of Richard Lyon, Sr., 10 Mar. 1723/4, Esther's portion was set to her three Perry children and to Samuel Grumman "a representative of his mother Eshter." This proves that Samuel was the only surviving child of Esther Lyon; as there is proof that eldest son John was by the first wife, she must have been mother of the other children unless there was an intervening unknown wife between Esther Thompson and Esther Lyon
"Hester Groment", aged 34, testified 1692 in the Disbrow witch trial; this was the second wife.
Inv. 20 May 1695; left a widow, four sons and a dau. On 13 Feb. 1701, John Gruman represented to the Court that his uncle Sergt. John Thompson together with Ezekiel Sanford were adm'rs of the Est. of his father John. Joseph, son of John, was of age to receive his portion, 30 Nov. 1709. On 23 May 1710, John Gruman (who had succeeded Thompson and Sanford as adm'r), made a division with the consent of Joseph Gruman, Ezekiel sanford in behalf of Thomas Gruman, David Sherman in behalf of Samuel Gruman, "my sister Abigail having received her portion."
