- Excerpts from "The New England Historical and Genealogical Register": He was a soldier in the American Revolution. From Conway records it appears that he was an active citizen. He was a member of the Committee on Correspondence in 1774; constable in 1775; member of the committee on the form of government in 1778; member of the Committee on Correspondence and Inspection and Safety in 1781, 1782 and 1783; selectman and assessor in 1783; delegate to the Hatfiewld Convention in 1782. He also served on the school committee. He was called "Ensign" in the town records, 3 March 1783.
