Notes |
- From NEHG Register: Hezekiah Gates is described as an inn-keeper. He must have been a wealthy man for his real estate transactions were numerous.
He served as cornet of a troop of horse in military service under Capt. Ephraim Wilder, Jr., from 7 to 12 July, probably in 1748. In 1757 he is mentioned as lieutenant in Capt. John Carter's Troop of Horse, which marched on the Alarm for the relief of Fort William Henry in August. In August 1761 he was commissioned Captain of the troop of horse.
