Sweyn Gobelbart King Of DENMARK [1, 2] |
- Saxon & vikings
899-1016
England was often at war with Viking invaders from Scandinavia during the tenth century. Although most Danes had been expelled by 975, raids on England began again just five years later. The Danish king, Sweyn Forkbeard, seized the kingdom from Aethelred II in 1013. He dies in 1014 and is succeeded by his son, Canute. Aethelred is restored to the throne. [1]
