  	General Slauson began his military career in 1953 when he joined the U.S. Army. He served on active duty until September 1955, with the majority of his active-duty tour being spent in Korea where he was also held for a time as a prisoner of war. Upon his return to the United States, General Slauson enlisted in the Alabama Air National Guard as an Airman First Class. From October 1961 to August 1962, he served on extended duty during the Berlin Crisis and after release from his enlisted service he received a commission from the Air National Guard as a first lieutenant. Through his distinguished career, as a highly decorated officer, he eventually rose to the rank of One Star, Brigadier, General and served as Assistant Adjutant General for Air Headquarters, Alabama National Guard. General Slauson had served the United States of America and the State of Alabama with honor and distinction for 41 years when he retired from military service in 1994. Lonnie first married in December 1957 to Judy R McCutchin. From this union, his son and only child was born, David Pete Slauson-Windham. His second wife was Margaret Robinson. In 2001 he married Nell G. Ryan-Bolton who cared for him until his passing. He left behind to mourn his loss, his wife Nell, his son "Pete," his grandchildren, William & Catherine and his great-grandsons, James & Henry. Date of burial: 29 Nov 2022 [1]
