Othniel's father relocated in 1696 to Matenicock, Long Island. James Sands had a will dated 21 Sep 1730 that was proved 19 Jan 1733. He left Othniel "the west lot that I bought of Anthony Wright, and 1/2 of my right in the Old Purchase, besides what I have already given to him by deed of gift." James owned property in Goshen, New York, as well as Matinecock and Oyter Bay, Long Island at that time. [1]
