- He was an assistant to the Rev. John White, Rector of Holy Trinity and St. Peters in Dorchester, Rev. Clarke was the driving force behind emigration to New England. he was a brother-in-law of John Humphrey, Deputy Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony. Rev. Clarke was Victor of St. Mary Magdalen in Taunton. He and Anne had three daughters, who all subsequently married clergymen in Devonshire, as well as a son John who was buried at Taunton on 23 June 1630. Rev. Clarke had a will that was proved 18 Apr 1631. [1]
