    • Joseph was pressed and sent to Haverhill and quartered at the house of Capt. Simon Wainwright. When the Indians made an attack on the ton August 29, 1708, he was captured and taken to Canada. He was a prisoner four years two months and nine days. He returned to Newbury, November 8, 1712.

      He wrote a narrative of his captivity among the Indians, 1708-1712.
