- Simeon Avery served in Capt. Joseph Morgan's company that marched to the relief of Fort William Henry, Aug. 1757. He moved to Orford, N.H., where he was a deacon of the congregational church and an innkeeper for many years. He kept the first ferry across the Connecticut River there. [1]
