8719	Obituary Notice in "New Jersey Herald" dated 5/7/2004: Alvah Davis Hamburg- Alvah Davis, 98 died Wednesday at Bristol Glen in Newton. Mr Davis was born in Franklin and has resided in Hamburg for most of his life. He worked for 33 years with the New Jersey Zinc Co. where he was a hoist engineer. He later worked as a self-employed carpenter. Mr Davis served on the Hamburg Borough Council and the Planning Board in the 1940s and the Hamburg Board of Education in the 1950s. He was a member of the Hamburg Presbyterian Church since 1924. Mr. Davis was predeceased by his wife, Marion, in 1986 and a son, Robert, in 1931. He is survived by two daughters, Marion Corey and Eveline Ann Rider and her husband, Walter, all of Sparta; one son, Donald, and his wife Carol, of Waretown; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was born on December 6, 1920 in Jackson, Michigan to Claude and Mary (Slauson) Meacham. Mary is survived by one daughter, mary (Ken) Friess of Brooklyn, MI' two sons, Charles (Judy) Schumacher of Onstead, MI and Ronald (Mary) Schumacher of Hanover, MI; five grandchildren, Kathryn, Cheryl, Steve, Michelle, and Jennifer; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Mary, Jacob and Jillian; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H. George Schumacher of 35 years; one son, Harold (Wanda) Schumacher; two sisters; and one brother. Mary was a member of St. Catherine Lboure Church in Concord. She loved spending time with her family and making pies. She was a hard worker and enjoyed being a farmer throughout her life. A Funeral Mass to honor the life of Mrs. Mary E. Schumacher will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Church (211 Harmon Street Concord, MI) on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Father Denis Spitzley officiating. 8724	OBITUARY OF LOUIS BRYAN Louis BRYAN, aged 79 and early day Perryton grocer, died Friday. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Full Gospel Church. Rev. Harrol Waterbury, pastor, and Rev. Jacob Regier, former pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery, under the direction of Boxwell Brothers. Mr. BRYAN was born in Leedey, Oklahoma, the son of the late W. C. and Beulah BRYAN. Bryan's Corner, the junction of highways 83 and 3 in the Oklahoma Panhandle, gets its name from them. Graduating from Perryton high school in 1925, Louis BRYAN and his father would open a grocery business a year later in Perryton. The W. C. Bryan and Son and later Bryan's Food Store was operated for more than 40 years at the same location. He was also involved in farming. He was married to Rhoda PHELPS of Gray, Oklahoma, in May 1929. Active in the community, Mr. BRYAN was a past president of the Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce and the Perryton Lions Club. He was secretary of the golf club for 17 years and served on the school tax equalization board for more than two decades. After retiring in 1970, Mr. BRYAN once said the biggest change in his 40 plus years in the grocery business was the move to packaged goods. The BRYANS were first to put in a meat market in Perryton. The store was located where the Sears outlet is now, at First and Main. Mr. BRYAN was a member of the Full Gospel Church. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Joan PLETCHER of Perryton; three sisters, Loucile SHORB of Kansas City, Kansas, Hazel WRIGHT of Guymon, and Eveline HINDS of Geneva, Nebraska; and two grandchildren, Dianne and David PLETCHER. 8725	Obituary of Louisa Richie/Richey (Turner) Jordan-Richards Posted by Catie and Will, Memorial Contributor Mrs. J. N. Richards died last night at 9:30 at her home on Oak street. The deceased is one of the pioneer residents of the county, having come to Tipton county when a young girl. She was in her 85th year. She had been ill for many months and a year ago her death was expected at any time, but she rallied her fast waning strength. Her husband died last spring. Death was due to complications of old age. Surviving are John C. Jordan, formerly of near Hobbs, but now living in Wisconsin, he being a son by a former marriage [s/o Milligan Jordan, who died young], and three children by the marriage to the late Mr. Richards, they being Walter Richards, of Kokomo, Marble Richards, of Sharpsville, and Mrs. Tom Davis, of near Atlanta. Mrs. Richards was born in Johnson county, [Indiana] December 2, 1836, she being a daughter of Mescah [sic-Meshack] Turner. She was fourteen years of age when she came to Tipton county with her parents, they settling in Liberty township. On November 17, 1856, when she was about 20 years of age, she was united in marriage to Milligan Jordan, by whom she became the mother of one son, John Jordan [John Charles Jordan]. Her husband died September 1, 1858, and on August 10, 1865, she was united in marriage to James N. Richards, deceased. She was the last survivor of a family of eight children. 8728	OBITUARY OF WESLEY BRYAN Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, for Wesley BRYAN, 69, who died in High Plains Hospital in Amarillo Monday, January 28, after an illness of several weeks. The Funeral Services will be in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Riley, officiating. Wesley BRYAN was lifelong resident of the Perryton area, being born near what is now Bryan's Corner, Oklahoma to the late Mr. and Mrs. W. C. BRYAN. He owned and operated a grocery store and service station there from around 1936 until the 1940's when he moved to Perryton to establish the Bryan Oil Company and Bryan Tire Company. He also engaged in farming. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce and served as a member of the Perryton school board and the Perryton city council. He moved back to Bryan's Corner several years ago and then moved with his wife, Nellie, to Amarillo last fall to be near his son and family, Dr. and Mrs. Gary BRYAN. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; his son, Dr. Gary BRYAN; a brother, Louis BRYAN of Perryton; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille SHORB of Lenexa, Kansas, Mrs. Hazel WRIGHT of Guymon, Mrs. Evelyn HINDS of Geneva, Nebraska; and two grandchildren. 8729	Obituary of William G. Gay William G. Gay, Sr., lovingly known as ?Bill? and ?Grumpy?, age 80, of Channahon, passed away peacefully, December 22, 2022 at 6:17 p.m., at Lightways Hospice, with his loving daughter by his side. Born July 8, 1942 in Joliet, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Long) Gay. Bill grew up in Channahon and Joliet graduating from Joliet Central Class of 1960. After high school, he joined the Army to serve his Country. He worked at the Joliet Arsenal before settling in at Stepan Chemical where he retired from in 2005. He had many friendships there and really had some stories! He also tended bar at Stone City VFW where once again- he knew everyone! Once he retired, he then worked part time at Midwest valve in Minooka, where he enjoyed hanging out in the shop talking to all the guys- even when he was not working. He certainly had the gift to gab, however his greatest thing to brag about were his five grandchildren. He was so proud of them and was not afraid to tell you. They each had their special moments with their ?Paw?, and he did not miss much of whatever they were involved in. He also loved going on ?casino roadtrips? with his brother, Bob. Bill was someone who you always knew where you stood with him, and that pointer finger would come out to make sure you got it. He was a fighter and as a family we learned he was not a quitter over the last year which was something we were so proud of. Surviving are his daughter, Georgette (Craig Siegel) Salazar of Minooka; five grandchildren, Olivia (Freddie Ramos) Salazar of Mount Prospect, Maximus Salazar of Minooka, Nikolas (Sarah Kelly) Holland of Reddick, William DeLucio of Reddick, and Logan DeLucio of Reddick; daughter in law, Trichelle (Russell) Mattas of Reddick; one sister, Harriet (the late Ed) Wicburg of Oceanside, CA; one brother, Robert A. (Colleen) Gray of Channahon; and several nieces and nephews. Bill also had some wonderful friends who he considered family: Mary, Heather, Tammy, Jerry (aka ?the newspaper?), Kevin, Rick and Virginia (aka Fred and Ethel) and his favorite granddog, Mavis. He always had special names for those closest to him, and that will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his son, William ?Billy? 8730	Obituary..... Rodrick T. ?Rod? Dunn, age 83, husband of Onie Slawson Dunn, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson County, Rod was the son of the late Talford P. and Jennie Faye Richey Dunn. A graduate of Boys? High, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War, for which he was awarded a Purple Heart. A graduate of the Carolina School of Commerce, he was retired with 37 years of service from J.P. Stevens Appleton Plant. He was also a licensed insurance agent with Independent Life Insurance, and after his retirement drove a school bus for Anderson School District 5 for 10 years. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Mike Dunn of Anderson; his brother, Jason Dunn of Anderson; and his 3 grandsons, Jonathan Dunn of Spartanburg, Brandon Dunn of Anderson, and Dustin Dunn of Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kendall W. Dunn; a brother, Gary Dunn; and 3 sisters, Fedda Dean Dunn Rider, Betty Jo Dunn Dickson, and Lou Ester Dunn Rainey. Retired from Sears Roebuck in the receiving department after over 30 years of service. She was an excellent cook, especially known for her spaghetti sauce, and was also an avid gardener. Rose always put others needs before her own. She was a beautiful woman in every sense of the word. 8735	Obituary: Lorenzo Dow Moses, son of Perry and Frances Moses, was born in Delaware County, Ohio, Sept. 20, 1873 and departed this world April 25, 1945, in the Greene County Hospital at Jefferson, Iowa. When a small child he came to Iowa with his parents who settled in jasper county, later moving to Guthrie count where he spend the remainder of his life. For several years he made a home for his mother, sister and nephew on a farm south of Bagley. He had made his home the past few years with his niece, Mrs. Oscar Anderson, on a farm west of Bagley. In passing he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Spencer of Escondido, Calif., and Mrs. Mabel Hansen of Bagley; nine nieces and nephews and many friends. 8736	Obituary: MOSES Funeral services were held Momday, Dec. 20, from the Bagley United Methodist Church for Robert Moses, 75, lifetime Bagley area resident. The Rev. Paul Donelson, minister of the church officiated. Vocalists were Mrs. Ivel Carroll and Mrs. Ray Corsaut. Mrs. Bill Stanley was organist. Casket bearers were M.M. Hiddleson, Ronald Rinner, Delbert West, Bill Dawson, Lloyd Dowd and Charles Dowd. Interment was in Richland Township Cemetery, Guthrie county. The Slininger Funeral Home of Jefferson was in charge of services. Robert Moses was born Sept. 9, 1901 in Richland township, Guthrie County. He was the son of Elmer and Emma Moses. Robert was reared in Richland township and lived most of his life near his place of birth. He farmed in the Bagley area his entire life. Robert lived and farmed on the Mallonee Farms for 71 years. Robert married Josephine Huntley in 1922. They were the parents of two children Robert Jr. and Dorothy. On May 9, 1939, Robert was united in marriage with Ruby Bennink in Maryville, MP. Robert adopted a son Rayfield. Mr. Moses died Thursday, Dec. 16, in Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Fanny Remele and Jean Moses; and a brother who died in the infancy. 8737	Obituary: MRS. GUY REMELE DIES LAST WEDNESDAY Bagley--Mrs. Guy Remele died at 4:30 p.m. last Wednesday in the Dallas county hospital in Perry. She suffered from cancer and had been in the hospital for several weeks. the body was taken to the Workman funeral home in Perry. Services were held Friday at 2pm.m from the Methodist church in Bagley, with the Rev. Clyde King, pastor, officiating. A quartet of Mrs. Hugh Turner, Mrs. Dorene Coil, and Mrs Edna Mae Vaux and Janet Maynard, accompanied by Mrs. Bowene Howick at the organ sand "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Sunrise Tomorrow." 8738	Obituary: Russell G. Holden December 19, 2010 Russell G. Holden, of Charlton, passed away December 19, 2010, at Woodlawn Commons in Saratoga Springs, NY. Mr. Holden was retired from the New York State Parks as regional park superintendent for Central NY. He had worked for the park system for 31 years before retiring. He had spent several winters in Florida with his wife, Bessie. Mr. Holden was predeceased by his wife, Bessie, in 2008; his brother, Earl Holden; and his sister, Belle Halinan. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Paul) Rennie of Charlton and Cheryl (John) Caterham of Wynantskill, and his sister, Marion Teske of East Syracuse. He also has a granddaughter, Karen (Shawn) Rowledge, and a great-granddaughter, Ava Rowledge, both of Welcome, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be private. 8743	Obituary: PIONEER DEAD. Dr. Edwin Bingham Succumbs to Pneumonia. Dr. Edwin Bingham, an old pioneer of Ogden died this morning at 8:50, at his residence, 3343 Washington Avenue, of pneumonia. He was born at Concord, Vermont, May 5, 1833, and came to Utah September 19, 1847, in the second company of hand-cart pioneers. He leaves a large family, consisting of five daughters, three sons, twenty-nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One of his daughters, Mrs. W. G. Taylor, is now in the Hawaiian Islands with her husband.
