  1. 1.  John RAYMOND (son of Richard RAYMOND and Judith ?); died on 25 Dec 1694 in Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut.

    Name:
    In 1668, in a division of lots in the winter wheat field, he drew lot 21. In 1687, in a division of common lands over the river, he drew lot 21. His taxable property (1687) was valued at L200. His father's will of 1676 gave all his lands in Norwalk "unto those children which my son John already have, or may have my Mary Raymond, his present wife."

    John married Mary BETTS on 10 Dec 1664. Mary (daughter of Thomas BETTS and Mary RAYMOND) was born on 1 Jan 1646 in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut; died in 1695 in Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  1. 2.  Richard RAYMOND was born about 1602; died in 1692 in Saybrook, Middlesex, Connecticut, USA.

    Name:
    Richard Raymond, Salem, Mass., mariner. Freeman, May 14, 1634. Jan 2, 1636, the town granted him half an acre of land at Winter Harbor (now known as Winter Island in Salem harbor), "for fishing trade and to build upon." In 1636 he received a further grant of 60 acres of land at Jeffries Creek (now Manchester). He and his wife Judith. . . were members of the First Church, Salem, before 1636. In 1660 he sold one quarter part of "the good ketch called the Hopewell of salem, of the burthen of thirty tons, now being or riding at anchor in the harbor of Boston." Oct. 20, 1662, he purchased a house and land at Norwalk, Conn., and probably removed there soon after, where he engaged in a coastwise trade with the Dutch and English settlers on manhattan Island. In 1664 he removed to Saybrook. His children were all baptized the the First Church, Salem, excepting John, the date of whose birth is unknown.
