    STATE PHILATELIST DIES

    HARDWICK - George Slawson, head of the Vermont Philatelic Society and a retired teacher, died Sunday at Hardwick Hospital. He was 64 and lied in Craftsbury Common.

    Mr. Slawson gained high praise for his researches in United States postal cards. He was a co-author (with Sprague W. Drenan and Arthur W. Bingham) of "The Postal History of Vermont," published this year by the Theodore E. Steinway Memorial Publication Fund of the Collectors Club of New York.

    His widow, Isabelle, and a sister survive.
