    In the land records of Stamford he is called James Slawson, Jr.," but his probate and certain church records call him "Lieut."..

    He was active in Stamford, living in Darien Parish. About 1747/8 he resided for a short period in Salem, Westchester co., NY. Adm. on estate Lieut. James Slawson, late of Stamford, was granted Isaac Slawson, 31 Dec. 1759. An inv. taken 26 June 1759, was filed 12 Feb., 1760, by Isaac Slawson. On 13 Feb., 1761, distribution was ordered to his children and to the heirs of James Slawson "Now deceased" (evidently his son). Children mentioned: Isaac, Heirs of James, Peter, Bowers, Henry, Stephen, Elizabeth and Sarah.

    On 16 Feb., 1759, adm. on estate of James Slawson, evidently "3rd", late of Stamford, was granted to Peter Slawson. Inv. of James Slawson 3rd was filed 6 mar., 1759, by Peter Slawson, ad. On 23 June 1759, adm. on estate of James Slawson 3d was granted to Peter Slawson. On 15 Jan., 1761, Israel Leeds, of Stamford, was named guardian of James Slawson, son of James Slawson 3rd deceased. On 5 Mar., 1768 Rowland Tryon, of Stamford, was named guardian of Rowland Slawson and Mary Slawson, children of James Slawson 3d, deceased. On 5 Apr. 1774, Rowland Slawson chose ames How, of --- for guardian. Stamford church rec. show that James, Prudence and Mary, children of James 3d and Anna Slawson, were bapt. 22 Jan. 1759. "Roland Slawson, son of James Slawson, Jr., deceased of Stamford, was baptized 14 Nov. 1759." the wll of Sarah Slawson, late of Stamford, dated 13 June 1771, pro. 26 July 1771, mentions brothers Isaac Bowers, Henry Stephen, also Mary and Prudence Slawson, children of James, a deceased brother, Betsey Slawson, a dau. of brother Isaac Slawson, sister Elizabeth Osborn and brother Peter Slawson.
