James butler or Le Botiller, K.B., Hereditary Chief Butler of Ireland, was hostage in Dublin Catle for his father in 1317. In 1326 he received a protection in England on going over to Ireland. As James le Botiller of Ireland he was created 'Earl of Ormond' on 2 Nov 1328.
