Abram married in Dec 21, 1817...He is named in his fathers will as follows:
I give and bequeath to my son Abram Ashley all the lands lying West of the road
leading from Dartmouth line by my house to Assonet as far Northward as the head
of the lane so called containing forty acres more or less with the buildings
thereon.

Also one third of the land which I bought of Philip Winslow, John Winslow and
Taber Ashley excepting twenty acres, at the West end of this land, hereafter
given to Willard Washburn said one third hereby given to my son contains seventy
acres more or less and is to be taken off the South side of the same and is to
be a third in quantity.

He became managing owner or agent for three vessels sailing out of New Bedford, the ship "Saratoga" and the barks "Endeavor" and "Cachalot", all sailing under the Ashley flag in Dartmouth, Massachusetts per NEHGS. He served as a private in the War of 1812 serving in the 2nd Co., of Freetown under Captain Simeon Ashley.

Abraham married Thankful ALLEN on 21 Nov 1817 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Thankful was born on 8 Feb 1797 in Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts; died on 2 Mar 1884 in New Bedford, Bristol Co., Massachusetts; was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, New Bedford, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. Abraham served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, as a Private under Captain Levi Rounsevill who responded to the first call, known as the "Lexington Alarm," April 19, 1775. Serviced 3 days.

He also served Lieutenant Nathaniel Morton's Company, Colonel Edward Pope's regiment; marched December 8, 1776; discharged December 19, 1776; Serviced 12 days, on an alarm at Rhode Island; also, Captain Joseph Norton's Company, Colonel John Hathaway's regiment; enlisted August 2, 1781; discharged August 7, 1781; Serviced 6 days, on an alarm at Rhode Island.

Abraham married Hannah CRAPO on 22 Jan 1783 in Freetown, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA. Hannah (daughter of Consider CRAPO and Mercy WASTE) was born on 20 May 1758 in Rochester, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts ; died on 04 Dec 1843 in Freetown, Bristol Co., Massachusetts; was buried in Crapo Cemetery, Freetown, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. She is mentioned in her husbands will as follows:
I give a bequeath to my beloved widow Hannah one half of my indoor moveables and all the provisions in the family at my decease, and also the improvements of one half the house in which I now live during her widowhood.

And it is my will and pleasure that my two sons Leonard and Jefferson Ashley comfortably provide for and honorably maintain my said wife or widow in sickness and in health in all respects during her remaining my widow.

I also give to my said wife, one cow to be kept as aforesaid.

And it is my will and pleasure that the real estate hereby bequeathed shall be to the several children to who given their heirs and assigns forever.
