    Name:
    Nathaniel Collins and Sybil (Collins) Whiting were siblings, and their spouses were siblings. Nathaniel graduated from Harvard, Class of 1660, and finished advanced study there in 1663. He moved to Middletown by 1664, where he was one of the early settlers. Nathaniel and his brother Samuel were admitted freemen on 9 May 1667. Probate of Nathaniel's estate was begun in Middletown after December 1684.

    Nathaniel was ordained minister of the First church of Christ in Middleton on 4 November 1668, succeeding Rev. Samuel Stow. Nathaniel died, quite prematurely and unexpectedly, in 1684. After a vacancy of four years, he was succeeded by rev. Noadish Russell. The children of Nathaniel, and the children of his brother Samuel, were baptized in this church.

    Note that both Nathaniel and his brother Samuel had daughters named Abigail, Martha, Mary, and Sybil. they were all born, baptized, and most were married in Middletown over approximately the same time period. Some accounts attribute a given husband to a daughter of the wrong parents.

    Edward and his family emigrated from England to Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1638. He left a will dated 20 Aug 1683, affirmed 6 April 1689, and proved 17 December 1689. Edward left everything to his wife Martha and made her sole executrix. She was to distribute his estate to their children and grandchildren as she saw "most meet and expedyent."
