    Dorothy E. Aldridge, nee Ferguson, 94, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born Sunday, Nov. 12, 1916, in Miller County, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at her residence.
    Mrs. Aldridge was the owner and operator with her husband Ernest, of Dor-Maru Shores Mobile Home Park in New Athens, Ill. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, Ill., Republican Women's Club and past president and secretary for Belleville Women's Club.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Aldridge; parents, Sherman R. and Maggie, nee Slawson, Ferguson; son Bill Aldridge; brothers Lowell, Raymond and Robert Ferguson; and sister, Phoebe Knecht.
    Surviving are her son, Richard Aldridge, of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, Ralph Ferguson of Carthage, Mo.; sister, Melba Ruth (Don) Hayes of Thayer, Mo.; dear friend, Bonita Miller of Swansea, Ill.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
    Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights. Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Kurrus Funeral Home, Berlleville, IL. Funeral:
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.

    Funeral services were held this morning for Sherman R. Ferguson, 81, of Rural Route Six, Edwardsville, a retired General Steel Company employee, who died at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Belleville Memorial Hospital following an illness of two years.

    Born at Iberia, MO, Mr. Ferguson lived in this area 54 years and retired from General Steel in 1962, following 35 years service as a coremaker. He was a member of Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church of Granite City.

    Survovors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Ferguson; four sons, Lowell of Granite City, Raymond of Colliinsville, Ralph of Joplin, MO, and Robert of Maryville; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Dorothy) Aldridge of New Athens, Mrs. Harold (Phoebe) Knecht of Placerville, Calif., and Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Hayes of Thayer, MO; two brothers, Glen Ferguson of Springfield, MO, and Walter Ferguson of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. John (Maude) Tatum of Granite City; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

    Mrs. Maggie (Slawson) Ferguson, 86 of 2440 St. Clair Ave., died at the Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon (Ill.) at 4:45 a.m. today, April 2, 1984. She was a resident of the care center since October 1983. Mrs. Ferguson was born December 3, 1898 in Miller County, MO, and moved to this area 59 years ago. She was a member of Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church. Her husband, Sherman Ferguson, died in 1977.

    Survivors include four sons, Lowell Ferguson, Granite City, Raymond Ferguson, Collinsville, Robert Ferguson of Maryville and Ralph Ferguson of Joplin, MO; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Aldridge, Fairview Heights, Mrs. Harold (Phoebe) Knecht, Placerville, Calif. and Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Hayes of Thayer, MO; a brother Everett Slawson of Crocker, MO; one sister, Mrs Albert (Blanche) Alexander of Dixon, MO; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

    Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home, 21st Street and Cleveland Boulevard. The Rev. Clifton Galiher will conduct services at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church, 25th Street and Ohio Avenue, with burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Edwardsville Township.
