    Name:
    William Brandon, Knt., of Soham, Suffolk, son , perhaps, of Robert Brandon,Collector of Customs at King's Lynn and Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. He was born about 1425, and rose in the service of John de Mowbray, Duke of Norfolk. They had four sons and five daughters. he was Escheator for Norfolk and Suffolk in 1454/5, Marshall of the Marchelsea, Marshall of the king's Bench, M.P. for Shoreham, Sussex, in 1467/8 and for Suffolk 1478. When Richard III usurped the throne he joined the uprising in the west losing his eldest son (father of Charles, the future Duke of Suffolk) at Bosworth. William sought sanctuary at Westminster and was pardoned. The second will of 'sir Willyam Brandon, Knt', was dated 9 Apr 1491, and proved 17 Nov 1491.

    William married Elizabeth WINGFIELD before 1462. Elizabeth (daughter of Robert WINGFIELD, Knt. and Elizabeth GOUSHILL) died on 28 Apr 1497. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
