Kenneth H. Swinson, 68, of Parkersburg, died at 5:20 a.m., Sunday, Feb 20, 1994, in his home.

The body was cremated, graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Greg White officiating and with full military rites performed by the Olney Veterans Organizations. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Swinson was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Richland County, the son of Lester and Grace (Schonert) Swinson. He married Betty Jean Bare on Oct. 12, 1946.

He had worked at the National Vinegar Company. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, of Parkersburg; two sons, Roger Swinson of Parkersburg and Jeff Swinson of Olney; two daughters, Wanda Jarvis of Olney and Sandy Carty of Grayville; a brother, Rex Swinson, of Noble; three sisters; Mildred Cross of Chicago, Thelma Glaubensklee of Newburgh, Ind. and Josephine Ritcheson of Olney; a step-brother, Carl Ritcheson of Michigan and four grandchildren.

Swinson was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Kenneth married Betty Jean BARE on 12 Oct 1946 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Betty (daughter of Wilbur Leonard BARE and Bertha Lorene SCHRADER) was born on 7 Aug 1930 in Edwards County, Illinois; died on 19 Jun 2003 in Olney, Richland Co., Illinois; was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Richland Co., Illinois. Betty Jean Swinson, 72, of Parkersburg, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Reverend Mike Baker and Cathy Seaton officiating. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes at a later date.

Mrs. Swinson was born on August 7, 1930, in Richland County, the daughter of Leonard and Mary Bare. She married Kenneth H. Swinson on October 12, 1946, in Lawrenceville. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1994.

She was a homemaker and a member of Parkersburg United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Swinson is survived by two sons, Roger Swinson, of Parkersburg, and Jeff Swinson, and his wife, Peggy, of Olney; two daughters, Wanda Jarvis, of Olney, and Sandy Carty, of Grayville; a brother, Don Bare, of Olney; four sisters, Pat Ginder, of Olney, Fay Harmon, of Olney, Vivian Combs, of Dundas, and Maxine Witte, of Olney; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and one brother.
