2. | Rev John BEARDSLEY, III was born on 23 Apr 1732 in Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA (son of John BEARDSLEY, Jr. and Kezia WHEELER); died on 23 Apr 1810 in Kingston, New Brunswick, Canada. Notes:
"The Descendants of William Beardsley and Mary Harvey" - He was involved with Yale College in 1758. In 1761 he received an honorary Bachelor of Arts degree from New York College and in 1768 an honorary Master of Arts. He studied theology with Doctor Johnson at Stratford. In the spring of 1761, he went to England of his ordination. He returned and worked as a missionary in Norwich, Connecticut for about five years. Then he removed to New York where he officiated at Pughkeepsie and Fishkill. During the Revolutionary War he fled to New York City where he became Chaplain of the British Army. After the war he settled in New Brunswick, Canada. Some of his descendants were successful lawyers in Canada.
John married Anna Gertrude CRANNELL in Feb 1774. Anna died in 1786 in Maugerville, Sunbury Co., New Brunswick, Canada; was buried in Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Maugerville, Sunbury Co., New Brunswick, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
