Anthony Colby (Colebie), of Salisbury and Amesbury, "planter," recd. land in the "first division," in 1640 and '43; was one of the first commoners of Amesbury, where he recde. land in 1654 and '58, and his wid., in his right, in '62 and '64. Sv. says he was in Boston in 1630, a church member, prob. came with Winthrop; may have been at Cambridge in 1632; freeman's oath May 14, 1634; at Ipswich in 1637; sometimes printed "Arthur."
