    FRANCIS A. LOCKBURNER, 79, former Sussex freeholder.

    A memorial service for Francis A. Lockburner, 79, of Pittston, a former New Jersey resident and Sussex County freeholder, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec 15 in the Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church, Route 94, Fredon.
    Mr. Lockburnerm who died Nov 18 at home, served as a freeholder in Sussex County from 1963 to 1972. He was a former chairman of the Sussex County Democratic Party and was a delegate to the 1960 Democratic National Convention from Newark Star Ledger.
    He was the proprietor of Discount Groceries of Sussex, Laceyville, Pa., West Pittston, Pa., tunkhannock, Pa., Hallstead, Pa and Archbald, Pa. he also was co-owner of Table Rock Hotel Inc., Laceyville.
    Mr. Lockburner attended Penn State University.
    He was a membe of the Masons and Tall Cedars and the laceyville Rotary, a charter member of the hare Ridge Sportsman's Club and the Doolittle Hills Sportsman's Association and a past member of the Wyoming County Welfare board and the Democratic Party, all in Pennsylvania.
    Born in Sparta, he is survived by daughters, Lorraine Hill, Linda Ayers and Sherre Boyanowski; a son, Dwayne, his mother Belma Lockburner, brothers, Vivian, Frank and Thomas; sisters, Florence Lauer, Elizabeth Slack, Joyce Steffy, Agness Haley, Jean Northrup, Marjoree Mistretta, Elaine Blanchard, Molly Harrje and Diane Smith and 11 grandchildren.

    FRANCIS A. LOCKBURNER, 79, Ex-Sussex Freeholder
    Pittston, Pa. - FRANCIS A. LOCKBURNER passed away at home on Nov. 18. He was 79.
    Born Oct. 30,1922, in Sparta, he was the son of Belma Ross and the late Frank.
    Mr. Lockburner was a 1941 graduate of Newton High School. He attended Pennsylvania State University and was self-employed in a variety of ventures including farming, the cattle feed business and the auto parts and farm machinery business.
    He was the proprietor of the Discount Groceries Store in Sussex, as well as Laceyville, West Pittston, Tunkhannock, Hallstead and Archibald, all in Pennsylvania.
    Mr. Lockburner served as a freeholder in Sussex County from 1963-1972. He was also a former chairman of the county Democratic Party. He was a delegate to the 1960 Democratic National Convention.
    He was a member of the Masons and the Tall Cedars, a chapter member of hare Ridge Sportsman's Club and Doolittle Hill Sportsman's Association, past member of the Wyoming County Welfare Board and Democratic Party. He was an active member of the Lacey Rotary.
    He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
    In additional to his mother, Mr. Lockburner is survived by his three daughters, Lorraine Hill of Newton, Linda Ayers of Meshoppen, Pa., and Sherre Boyanowski of Laceyville, Pa.; his son Dwayne of Hemm Lake, Minn; three brothers, Vivian "Tucker" of Effort, Pa., Frank of Newton and Thomas of Florham Park; nine sisters, Florence Lauer of Blairstown, Elizabeth "Betty" Slack of Mesa, Ariz., Joyce Steffy of Hamberg, Agnes Haley of Lakeland, Fla., Jean Northup of Ashland, Va., Marjoree Mintretta of lakeland, Fla., Elaine Blanchard of Cedar Knolls section of Hanover, Molly Haarje of Vernon and Diane Smith of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec 15, at 3 p.m. at Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church, Route 94, Fredon.

    Francis died one month before his mother Belma Pearl Ross Lockburner died.

    Francis married Claire M. SERICE on 26 Oct 1943 in Patterson, Passaic, New Jersey. Claire was born on 20 Jan 1926 in Patterson, Passaic, New Jersey; died on 20 Oct 2007 in Tunkhannock, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, USA; was buried in Saint Joachims Cemetery, Meshoppen, Wyoming Co., Pennsylvania.     FRANK LOCKBURNER, father of Sussex County Freeholder Francis Lockburner, died Friday afternoon at his residence on Route 94, Lafayette Township. He was 71 years old.
    Born in Sparta Township he had lived in the area all his life. He was a retired dairy farmer.
    He is survived by his widow, Belma, four sons, Francis, Vivian and Frank, all of Fredon township and Thomas of Florham Park; nine daughters, Mrs. Florence Lauer of Blairstown, Mrs. Elizabeth Slack of Newton, Mrs. Alletar Steffy of Hamburg, Mrs. Agnes haley, of Cortland, N.Y., Mrs. Jean Wardle of Franklin, Mrs. Marjoree Mistretta of Andover, Mrs. Elaine Henderson of Branchvile, Mrs. Molly Harrje of Vernon and Mrs. Diane Smith of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Merle Van Orden of Franklin and Mrs. Dorothy Conners of Passaic; 40 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Smith-McCraken Funeral Home, Newton. The Rev. Allan Davis, pastor of Newton Baptist Church will officiate. Internment will be in North Church Cemetery.
    The family would appreciate expressions of sympathy being made to the Lafayette Federated Church.
    Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
    Buried at the North Church Cemetery, Hamburg, New Jersey.

    Sparta - BELMA P. LOCKBURNER, 95, of Sparta, died Thursday at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton.
    Born in Sparta, Mrs. Lockburner was a lifelong resident of Sparta. She worked as a seamstress at Morley's Custom Shop in Franklin.
    The daughter of the late john Edward Ross and Addie Louise Paulison Ross, Mrs. Lockburner was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank Lockburner, on April 14, 1972, and a son, Francis Lockburner, on Nov 18. She is survived by three sons, vivian "Tucker" Lockburner of Effort, Pa., Frank Lockburner of Newton and Thomas Lockburner of Florham Park; nine daughters, Florence Lauer of Blairstown, Elizabeth Slack of Mesa, Ariz., Alleta Joyce Steffy of Hamburg, Agnes Haley of Lakeland Fla., Jean Northup of Ashland, Va., Marjoree Mistretta of Lakeland, Fla., Elaine Blanchard of Cedar Knolls, Moly Harrje of Vernon township and Diane Smith of Los Angeles, Calif; 43 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
