    ST. GEORGE - Myrtle Branham Heywood, 94, joined her eternal companion on December 8, 2009. She was born April 11, 1915, to Bertha L. Pitts and Samuel T. Branham. She married J. Karl Heywood on August 15, 1956, in the St. George LDS Temple.

    Myrtle was born in Thatcher, Arizona, and raised in Northern Wisconsin. In 1941, she served a short-term mission to the California Mission. In the 1950's, she worked in the Arizona Temple Office. She and her mother moved to St. George in the spring of 1954. After her marriage, she and Karl moved to Panguitch, Utah. Karl passed away in 1971 and Myrtle remained in Panguitch until she returned to St. George to the family home in 1993.

    Myrtle served faithfully in the church wherever she lived. She sponsored a Family Home Evening group for many years. Although she never had any children, she is remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

    She is survived by her brother, Arnold Branham (Betty) of Wausau, Wisconsin; a sister Brenda Blanton (Fred) of Morehead, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary, prior to services and again on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Panguitch LDS Ward Chapel, 550 S. 100 West, Panguitch, Utah. Interment will be at the Panguitch Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary,

    Myrtle married Joseph Karl HEYWOOD on 15 Aug 1956 in St. George LDS Temple. Joseph (son of Joseph Edgar HEYWOOD and Margaret Effie HENRIE) was born on 14 Jul 1904 in Panguitch, Garfield Co., Utah; died on 25 Jan 1971; was buried in Panguitch City Cemetery, Panguitch, Garfield Co., Utah.
