    Excerpt from "Descendants of George Rowles" by Ann Moloney Lamb:
    John F. Rowells and his wife Nettie lived in Oklahoma Territory in 1907 and later moved to Chicago and then to Oshkosh, Wisconsin and finally Fond du Lac. He used his "wheel" for day-to-day commuting to his shop in downtown Fond du Lac where he continued to manufacture cigars until 1973. He hand-rolled and sold, through distributors, high-quality cigars from Wisconsin leaf and other blends. He lived to be 86.

    Obituary: "City Cigar Maker Dies at Age of 86. John F. Rowells, 86, formerly of 42 W. 12th St., died at 6:50 pm. Monday at St. Agnes Hospital. He was presently a resident of Maple Manor Nursing Home.
    He was born June 29, 1883 at Waupun, a son of George and Margaret Shanahan Rowells. He married Nellie Beucus at Oshkosh on Sept. 17, 1906.
    For 38 years he was a partner in Martin and Rowells Cigar Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1952. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Horseshoe Club.
    Mr. Rowells is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Conrad J. Kreutzberg of Sheboygan and Mrs. Wilfred O. Meyer of the city, and three sisters, Mrs. C.H. Anderson of the city, Mrs. Fritz Groose of Phillips and Mrs. Wayne Gray of Manchester.
    He was preceded indeath by his wife on Jul 20, 1942, two sons and three brothers.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday at Zachherl Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond L. Fox officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

    The Waupun Leader, Friday Octobe 16, 1896: "DIED-ROWELLS
    At his home in this city, Saturday morning, Oct. 19th, 1896, of heart disease, Geo. B. Rowells, aged 46 years, 1 month and 9 days. The deceased arose at the usual hor in the morning and after his chores, went to the house and complaining of not feeling well, lay down. Shortly after, his wife went to call him to breakfast and was alarmed at his condition. Medical aid was immediately summoned only to find that he was dead. he leaves a wife and seven young children, besides a mother and several brothers and sisters. The funeral was held from St. Joseph's Catholic Church Monday forenoon.

    George married Margaret SHANAHAN on 06 Jan 1881 in Waupun, Dodge County, Wisconsin.     Excerpt from "Descendants of George Rowles" by Ann Lamb:
    When her husband died at age 46 leaving her with 7 children, she took in washing and ironing. Sometime after the death of George B. Rowells in 1896, Margaret Shanahan Rowells and family moved from Waupun, Wisconsin, to Ogema, Wisconsin, up in Price County. They farmed for several years during which time they built one of the first slip-formed conrete silos in the state. Esther married Earl Henning Anderson in 1918. By the 1920's only George, Luke, Bess and May remained on the farm with their mother.
    After George B.'s death the family then moved from the farm to Marshfiled, Wisconsin, in Wood County, where they had an apartment building and general store.
    After World War II, Margaret Rowells, May, Luke and George sold the apartment and store and relocated to Beaver Dam, WI, back in Dodge County. Margaret rmained in excellent physical and mental health until her death in 1953 at age 99. She worte frequent leters in beautiful handwriting until the end. May then married Henry Fritz Groose in 1960 (she was 72). Luke and George never married.
