    GEORGE A. PRIEST (1937)
    A paralytic stroke on Sunday, May 16, caused the death of George Albert Priest, 66, at his home about 2:00 am last Friday morning.
    Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm by the Rev. J Charles Richards in the Christian Church. Interment, in charge of the Palmer Funeral Home, was made here.
    Mr. Priest, who had spent his entire life in New Martinsville, had been in failing health for a long time and his strength was not capable of overcoming the effects of the stroke. He was a member of the Christian church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Belle Priest; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Connor, of Warwood and Mrs. Garnet Smith of Long Beach, California; three brothers, Curtis, John and Frank, all of New Martinsville; and his mother, Mrs. Caroline Priest. His father, the late G.W. Priest, died in 1917, and a brother Walter, also preceded him in death.

    George married Mary Belle COX on 15 Oct 1896. Mary was born on 17 Apr 1871 in Clarington, Monroe County, Ohio; died on 15 May 1938 in New Martinsville, Wetzel County, West Virginia; was buried in Walker Cemetery, Whiteman Hill, New Martinsville, West Virginia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    MRS. MARY PRIEST (May 15, 1938)
    A sudden stroke resulted in the death of Mrs. Mary Belle Priest, 67, at her home here Sunday.
    Mrs. Priest, widow of the late Albert Priest and daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. F.V. Cox, had been in ill health for some time.
    Funeral Services were conducted by Rev. Carl Reynolds, paster of the Church of God here, at the home Wednesday afternoon. Interment, in charge of Harry Palmer, was made in the Walker Cemetery.
    Mrs. Priest was born in Clarington, Ohio, April 17, 1871. She was married to Mr. Priest in 1896. She had been a member of the Christian Church since reaching the age of 18. Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Frances Nelson of New Martinsville, Mrs. E.H. Smith of Long Beach, California, Mrs. George Conrad of Warwood, Mrs. Lee Robin of McMechen, and Mrs. J.H. Larmore of Youngstown, Ohio, and one brother, C. W. Cox of Akron, Ohio.
