    Pioneer Family Passes
    at Daughter's Home

    Mrs. Annie Norvell Rand, 92, a
    descendant of one of Kanawha
    county's pioneer families, died early
    yesterday morning at the home of
    her daughter, Mrs. E. C. Dawley of
    1301 Kanawha street.
    The body was removed to Simp-
    son funeral home. Final rites will
    be conducted tomorrow afternoon
    at 3:30 o'clock at the Dawley resi-
    dence. The Rev. B. C. Gamble, D.
    D., of the St. John's Episcopal
    church will officiate. Burial will
    be in Spring Hill cemetery.

    BORN IN CHARLESTON

    Mrs. Rand was born Oct. 29, 1844,
    in Charleston, the daughter of Maj.
    John E. Norvell and Elizabeth Whit-
    taker Norvell. She was a descend-
    ant of a long line of Norvells of
    Williamsburg and Lynchburg, Va.,
    and of the Quarrier and Whittaker
    families of Kanawha valley.

    She was married on Oct. 8, 1862,
    to the late Isaac Noyes Plus Rand
    of this city, and resided at one
    time at El Paso, Tex.
    Survivers are two daughters, Mrs.
    Dawley and Mrs. Maud Rand Case
    of San Antonio, Tex., several grand-
    children and great grandchildren
    and one great-great grandchild, in
    addition to a large number of
    nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    Three other children are deceased.

    Active pallbearers will be Mrs.
    Rand's nephews, George W. Norvell
    of Huntington, John E. Norvell, G.
    Norvell Connell, George W. Con-
    nell jr., Clarence R. Burdett, Gas-
    ton N. Shober and Malcom M.
    Mathews.

    The family has requested that no
    flowers be sent.
