"A HUNDRED YEARS OLD, Mrs. Charlotte Slawson Little Celebrates, March 5, Her 100th Birthday anniversary.
On Monday, march 5, 1906, at her home in Sonora, occurred the 100th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Charlotte Little. Her constitution has been a very strong vigorous one as shown by the fact that at her present age she retains health and strength to a remarkable degree, being able to care for herself, walk about the house, and also to nearby neighbors. Until she was 96 years of age she was able to carry on her own household duties, even milking her own cow and caring for milk and butter, doing her own churning, washing, etc. Her life custom of early rising and hard work has been faithfully adhered to, and even now at her great age she frequently arises at 5:30 or 6:00, A.M. She has never had rheumatism. There are times when her mind wanders and she fails to comprehend ordinary conversation, but in the main her mental faculties are unusually well balanced and her physical health is almost perfect. She passed a pleasant day with relatives and friends who were gathered in honor of the occasion and who took their departure after wishing her many returns on her birthday." [news clipping with her photo pasted in the handwritten Goodrich genealogy]

"DEATH OF CENTENARIAN: Late in the day of January 29, occurred the death of Mrs. Charlotte Slawson Little, at the home of her son, Amos
Little, near Sonora. Mrs. Little was with out a doubt the oldest resident of the community, having been born in Poundrige, Westchester
county, N.Y., March 5, 1806. She was a daughter of Amos and Susanna Green Slawson.
About 60 years ago she came with her husband, Cyrus B. Little, from Westchester county and settled upon the farm in the western portion of the town of Urbana where she lived 56 years. Five years ago she moved with her son to Sonora.
Mrs. Little was a remarkable woman in the fact that while she had lived in the same house with her son during the latter years of her life, she maintained her own home, attending to the household duties, caring for her cows and poultry, making butter and doing other work. March 5 of last year, the 100 anniversary of her birth was celebrated and she actively participated in the event, her mind being clear and alert. During the last two or three years, however, her mind has wandered, but in the main her mental faculties were well balanced and physical health almost perfect. She represented several generations in the fact that she was an expert spinner and up to 90 years of age was frequently busy at the wheel.
The funeral was held at the home on Thursday, interment being in the Sherman cemetery near the Little homestead farm in this town." [newspaper clipping pasted in the handwritten Goodrich genealogy]
