    Dr. Charles E. Johnston

    The circle of the local medical fraternity was broken Sunday evening at 6:30 when Dr. C.E. Johnston, well known physician succumbed after a brief illness with pneumonia.
    Deceased was born November 24, 1865, in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. Early in life he determined on the medical profession and took up his preparatory work in the Baltimore Medical college later finishing same in Johns Hopkins university. He also specialized in work at the West Pen Hospital, Pittsburg, and what is now the Starling Medical University of Columbus.
    In the late eighties he was married to Miss Elizabeth V. Carpenter, of Atwood, Indiana Co., Pennsylvania.
    To this happy union three children were born: Paul, Normal Training instructor at Tarentum, Pa.; Harry, who holds an important position in the offices of the McGraw Tire & Rubber Co., and Marcus, at home.
    Dr. Johnston came to this city about twenty five years ago where his life's work was spent. Twenty-one years of this quarter century were spent an West Main street and only within the past two years had the Doctor finished the construction of a splendid residence on West Main Street in which he was living at the time of his death.
    The subject of this sketch was a member of the United Presbyterian church and of the American Medical Association. In his active career here Dr. Johnston had made many friends and his untimely passing will be noted with regret.
    Funeral services were held from the home Thursday afternoon at 4:30 in charge of Rev. D.R. Turnbull, of the United Presbyterian Church.
