Name:
Stephen Huse graduated at harvard College in 1726 and became a Congregational minister; but the austere life required of a minister in those days did not suit his genial temperament, and he studied medicine. He practiced in Haverhill and Methuen, and in his old age retired to his farm in Methuen.

In his will, dated Haverhill 13 August 1771 and proved 1 September 1783, he gives to sons John and Nathaniel lands in Methuen on which John then lived. he also names his wife Susannah and daughters Eleanor, Susannah, and Miriam.

Stephen and his wife Judith in 1729 sold to James Huse a messuage in Newbury bounded by lands of William and thomas Huse. James resold this in 1739 to his bother Ebenezer.

Stephen Huse bought of his father 100 acres, part of his father's farm at Spicket's Neck on spicket river, 6 April 1730. The deed was witnessed by Stephen Emery (Essex Deeds).

In 1757 Doctor Stephen Huse and John, his son, were on the alarm list of the militia company in Haverhill.

Stephen married Judith GREENLEAF on 30 Jul 1729 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. Judith was born on 28 Sep 1698 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA; died on 5 Sep 1730 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA; was buried in Sawyer Hill Burying Ground, Newburyport, Essex Co., Massachusetts. Stephen married Susannah CLEMENT on 02 Jan 1785. Susannah died on 20 Jul 1809 in Methuen, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Abel Huse lived on the Bradford Road and was probably a tanner. His name appears in the lis of soldiers under the command of Captain Thomas Noyes endorsed "training day ye 26 day February 1688." it appears again in the list of the "snowshoo men" of Captain Hugh March's company belonging to the North Regiment in Essex for operations against the Indians in 1710. At a meeting of the inhabitants of the Second Parish, 17 July 1710, the presence of Corporal Abel Huse is recorded.

Administration on his estate was granted to his son Abel Huse, of Ipswich 23 March 1757. The sons had received gifts from him: samuel had the farm in Methuen, 173 acres, as his share. The heirs to the estate were Abel, Stephen, and Samuel; heirs of John, deceased; daughters Judith, wife of John Holman; Sarah, Wife of Caleb Kimball; mary, wife of Enoch Davis. Sarah, wife of John, is also mentioned. The homestead consisted of 40 acres. The grandson Enoch had lived with his grandfather for a year and a half before his death (Essex Deeds and Probte Files).

Abel married Judith EMERY in 1693. Judith (daughter of John EMERY and Mary WEBSTER) was born on 05 Feb 1673 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA; died on 24 Apr 1753 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
