Notes:
James was a farmer and lived in Haverhill till about 1725, when he moved to Dracut, Mass. The record of baptism of James Emery is from the Records of the First Church of Newbury. The records of birth and death of himself and wife are not know. He was probable born in Newbury, early in 1698. It is probable that she was born in Haverhill and that they both died in Dracut. On March 30, 1757, he presented a petition to the General Court of Massachusetts, in which he stated that his son Ambrose, a minor, "Enlisted himself into His Magestie's Service in the Expedition Carrying on against Cron Point, in the year 1756, under the command of Capt. Butterfield, and after he was dismissed (discharged), at Lake George, as he was returning home, he was taken sick at Glasgo, and not able to travel; and when tidings thereof was brought to your Petitioner he sent a man and horse to fetch his son home, which occasioned considerable charge to your Petitioner, according to the account herewith exhibited." He asked that he be remunerated. He was given L3, 9s, and 8d.
James married Ruth WATSON on 10 Dec 1719 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Ruth was born in 1700 in Massachusetts; died in Dracut, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
