    Name:
Esther Scribner, when a girl, was sent for reinforcements. She was dressed in a red broadcloth coat slit up the back for horse back riding. It had a double cape. It is thought she was dressed like a British soldier as she had to go through the British lines. She was chased by a British soldier. he thought it would be easy to catch her as she came to an unfordable stream. She had taught her horse to swim and she went safely over. The British soldier sacre stuttering.

The reinforcements were brought and the British were driven back to their ships. This happened when Esther Scribner was a young girl. This was my own grandmother and I heard it from her own lips. this is proven by the affidavits accompanying National No. 70712. This above statement was signed by Esther Dikeman Bailey.
