    Mervin Jacob Jeffers was born April 16, 1914, and passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007, at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center at the age of 93.

    He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Norman Miller, Peoria, IL; and their sons, Rev. Ron Miller and family, Peoria; Jim Miller and family, Des Moines; his step-daughter Janet Hensley and family; and his step daughter Addie and Bill Hotz and family who have looked after Merv since his wife's death in July 2003. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents Merle H. and Alvina (Moeller) Jeffers, his wife LaNore Follett Jeffers, his step-daughter Kay Foran Powers and two grandchildren, Diane Hensley and Robert Hotz.

    Merv was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, being baptized and confirmed in it as well as attending the old German Lutheran School. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1932. During World War II, he worked in the shipyards in California returning to Fort Dodge and working as foreman for Ackersman Sheet Metal for 30 years.

    Merv was a people person and made friends with anyone he met, always finding something in common to talk about. He will be deeply missed by family and friends who will always remember how kind and grateful he was.

    According to his wishes, private graveside services will be held. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Building Fund or to the donor's wishes.
