  1. 1.  Deacon John DUNHAM was born in 1588/9 in Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, England; died on 2 Mar 1668/9.

    Name:
    John Dunham was born in Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, England in 1588/9. He married ABIGAIL BALLIOUS at Leyden, Holland on 22 October 1622. She was his second wife and the daughter of Thomas Ballious. When he came to America has not been definitely determined, but as early as 1632 he received a grant of land at Plymouth for his cattle. In 1633 he was chosen a deacon and was listed in 1643 as between 16 and 60 and able to bear arms. He was a weaver by trade. On 28 May 1663 he deeded land at Plymouth to his son John and called himself a weaver. He died on 2 March 1668/9, aged about 80 years being then called a deacon. His will was dated 25 January 1668, presented at court on 4 June 1669 and mentioned his wife Abigail and his eldest son John. The inventory was taken on 16 March 1668/9.

    John married Susan KAINO on 17 Aug 1612 in Clophill, Bedfordshire, England. Susan (daughter of Thomas CAINEHOE and Jeanne ?) was born about 1590 in Bedfordshire, England; died on 7 Oct 1622. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
