He relocated to Bedford in 1746, when he became proprietor of "Bedford New Purchase". Othniel had a will dated 19 Aug 1757, with a codicil on 3 Sep 1757, that was proved 2 Apr 1761, in which he left his wife "a good horse, and saddle covered with Plush, and a good cow," as well as household items. he made bequests to his children and some grandchildren. Othniel's father relocated in 1696 to Matenicock, Long Island. James Sands had a will dated 21 Sep 1730 that was proved 19 Jan 1733. He left Othniel "the west lot that I bought of Anthony Wright, and 1/2 of my right in the Old Purchase, besides what I have already given to him by deed of gift." James owned property in Goshen, New York, as well as Matinecock and Oyter Bay, Long Island at that time.
