    • Fact: Son of Aaron Forman and Susannah Townsend

    Notes:

    Name:
He owned part of the "Little Meadows Property" at Matinecock, originally purchased by his great-grandfather Robert Forman. Jacob and his brother Isaac served in 1715 in the "Company of soldiers under the Command of Capt. Samuel Dick'n at Oyster Bay." He and others sent a petition from North Castle to Governor Clark. Jacob was given a patent (ca 1736 or earlier) to the property known as the "Old Forman Homestead." His first wife was Mary Wright (d. bef 12 Mar 1719/20) of Oyster Bay, with whom he had daughters Susannah and Mary. Jacob's father received a town grant of three acres in 1676 (being at least 21 years old), for a home lot at the head of Oyster Bay Cove, apparently close to the original Forman home. Aaron continued the traditions of the family in holding township offices as Collector of Oyster Bay in 1703, Assessor in 1707 and a Matinecock Proprietor. He lived most of his later years after 1687 at Matinecock in Oyster Bay township.

Jacob married Elizabeth LAING in 1724 in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. Elizabeth (daughter of Nicholas LAING, Esq. and Ann PALMES) was born on 30 Sep 1690 in Swansea, Bristol Co., Massachusetts; died in 1770 in North Castle, Westchester Co., New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
